Dutch Reformed Church and Feeshuis: Built in the form of Greek cross with teak interior, a beautiful pipe organ and front made of solid brass. The Feeshuis, one of the oldest building in town, was used as slave quarters during 1810 - 1820.
Goldmine: During the 1870/80's gold fever gripped the country. In the rolling Ruggens (hills) of the Overberg on the farm, Hansiesrevier, a reminder of those years remains.
Giant Sundial: A giant sundial (probably the biggest in South Africa) on which the time can be told within half a minute was erected by Danie du Toit in 1965. It is located at the municipal offices. Du Toit had no training in this field but gained his knowledge from years of meticulous observation.
Ox-wagon: To commemorate the ox-wagon trek in 1838. Erected in 1988.
Grootberg Hiking Trial: New 8km hiking trial around the summit of the Grootberg. Large variety of fynbos and bird species. Starts at the FM-tower.
At the southern tip of the mother continent of Africa, at a point where two oceans meet, lies South Africa. A country with such a rich tapestry of cultures and traditions. A country of diversity...

FEBRUARY - MAKE IT AMORE....MONTH OF LOVE
"Oh my love's like a red, red rose...
that's newly sprung in June.
Oh my love's like the melody...
that's sweetly played in tune"
DRAKENSBERG...
Nothing says i love you like a lakeside stone cottage, cosy fireplace and majestic mountain peaks.
MAGALIESBERG...
Sip champaigne and watch the sun rise as you drift high above the Magalies River Valley. Whether you like heights or not, a balloon safari will get your heart rate going, first price for any Valentine's escape.
ROBERTSON VALLEY...
Head to the Robertson Valley to cruise the Breede River while sipping wines from Viljoensdrift wine estate. The cruise lasts for about an hour and you can have a picnic basket made up at the deli.
CAPE TOWN...
Hop onto a catamaran in Cape Town for a sunset cruise on the Atlantic Ocean..
DURBAN...
It doesn't get much better than sipping bubbly while the sun sets over the horizon, and where better to do that than in Durban, which has near-perfect weather all year round.

WELCOME TO THE OVERBERG...
OVERBERG...
There is a rich and quiet stretch of Africa that invites the visitor to spend some time, rekindle the senses and create memories... the pulsating wheat fields of the Overberg, the sun kissed-cliffs that characterise the Breede River Valley, and the quiet beaches of South Africa's famous West Coast. The various components of this South African quilt open up a host of possibilities with which to do as much (or as little) as you want.
The kaleidoscope of scenic experiences can be entered into by meandering through myriad wild flowers, rafting along the crystal clear Breede river, whale watching along the Overberg shoreline that host scores of shipwrecks, or endeavouring on an energetic sand-boarding excursion down skyscraping dunes...
You can say you have experienced it all...ONLy when one meets a "strandloper", tastes "bokkoms" and dances the "langarm" in your "veldskoene".Who could resist sipping some 'soetes'the honey-tinged West Coast wine, on frosty winter evenings or over crushed ice on hot summer days?
From these bright blue western bays with their antique fishing boats, there is a snake-like road that takes the explorer back to the picturesque Overberg, along the mountains and orchards of gthe Breede River Valley, through the longest wine route in the Western Cape.
The unexpected pleasures that this panoramic landscape offers, thde abundance of trees, the magnificent fynbos, the everchanging face of the mountains and hills, will embroider stories, friendships and pictures never to be forgotten...
